To celebrate the launch, Beckham and director Quentin Jones (a rising British talent who wears her girlish streak on her sleeve) created a lively video featuring models in the clothes manipulating and being manipulated by Jones’s signature collages and cutouts. “She’s cool and has a really interesting vision,” Beckham says of Jones. “And her personal style is a perfect fit for the Victoria line.”
Jones’s vivid, graphic approach is much of the reason why just looking at stills from her film (above) feels as effective as seeing the moving images. It’s also a reminder that the clothes may reflect Beckham’s spirited character, but it’s up to the wearer to bring them to life.
Victoria, Victoria Beckham, $435–$1,250, is available February 4 at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and net-a-porter.com.
